- Using the built-in amount calculator
- When adding or editing a transaction or account, tap the amount field to open the custom keypad. Use +, −, ×, ÷, and = to total amounts before saving — handy for splitting receipts or combining line items.
- Dashboard account cards and hide balances
- Swipe through account cards below net worth on the Dashboard — each shows balance and this month's earned vs. spent, sorted by recent usage. Tap the eye icon beside Net Worth to hide all balances app-wide. Choose which accounts appear on the carousel via the per-account Display on dashboard toggle or Profile → Account cards on dashboard.
- Editing your profile
- Tap your profile header or the avatar in the tab bar to change your display name and avatar (initials, preset icons, or custom emoji). Pro members also get a star badge on that avatar. Custom profile details persist after sign out. Sign out is in Settings, above Delete account.
- Sign in with Apple or Google
- Sign-in is optional. Tap Skip for now to start tracking immediately with local data only. Sign in with Apple or Google when you want iCloud sync (requires Monlio Pro). Signing out removes your profile from the device but keeps your local finance data unless you choose to delete your account.
- Enabling or disabling iCloud sync
- iCloud sync requires Monlio Pro and sign-in with Apple or Google. Go to Settings and turn iCloud sync on or off. When it is on, Profile shows a checkmark and Sync active next to your email. Finance data syncs across your Apple devices via CloudKit, including account balances. You can also tap Sync Now for a manual sync. Disabling sync keeps all data on your device — nothing is deleted.
- App lock with Face ID or passcode
- Open Settings → App Lock to require Face ID, Touch ID, or a custom passcode when opening Monlio. You can change or remove the lock at any time. If biometrics fail, use your device passcode or the custom passcode you set in the app.
- Multi-currency and exchange rates
- Each account can use its own currency. Set a default currency in Settings for net worth totals and converted amounts. Exchange rates come from Frankfurter (ECB). Use the visible currencies picker to control which currencies appear when adding accounts or transactions. Pull down on Dashboard, Accounts, Transactions, or Reports to reload your data, exchange rates, and asset prices.
- Sorting accounts and filtering categories
- On Accounts, sort within Fiat, Crypto, and Stocks by name, amount, or a custom drag order. In My Categories, filter by All, Income, or Expense. Categories sort by name. Swipe a category or transaction left to delete it.
- Home Screen widget
- Pro includes a Home Screen widget that shows net worth plus this month's income and expenses. Numbers update when you open the app or change data, and hidden balances stay hidden. Open Profile and follow the setup steps. Without Pro, that screen opens Unlock Pro and the widget hides amounts. After a new install, open Monlio once, then search the widget gallery for Monlio.
- Changing the app icon
- Open Profile → Change app icon. The default icon is included free. Sixteen alternates — Aurora, Barbie, Black, Cream, Gold, Lavender, Lime, Mint, Ocean, Peach, Rainbow, Rose, Silver, Slate, Sky, and Sunset — unlock with Pro and return to the default when Pro ends.
- Transfers and currency exchange transactions
- When adding a transaction, choose Transfer to move money between accounts, or Exchange to convert between fiat currencies. Monlio suggests exchange rates from live data — you can adjust the rate before saving. Both transaction types update account balances automatically.
- How many accounts are included on the free plan?
- The free plan includes up to 2 accounts and up to 3 tracked subscriptions, plus multi-currency tracking and basic reports. Upgrade to Monlio Pro — monthly, yearly, or lifetime — to unlock unlimited accounts and subscriptions, advanced reports, the Home Screen widget, 16 alternate app icons, and optional iCloud sync.
- Tracking subscriptions
- Add a subscription with a name, price, account, category, and billing cycle (one-time, monthly, yearly, or every N months). Free includes up to 3 tracked subscriptions; Pro is unlimited. Due charges are added when you open or return to the app. Stop a subscription anytime — past charges stay, future ones stop.
- Logging Apple Pay purchases with Shortcuts
- Log Transaction is always listed in Shortcuts. After you pay with Apple Wallet, it shows a compact expense summary — amount, merchant, category, and date. Saving it requires Monlio Pro. No bank connection or login required. Cash and purchases outside Apple Wallet are still entered manually.

- Yes. Swipe through account cards below net worth, hide all balances with one tap beside the net worth label, and choose which accounts appear on the dashboard carousel. Cards sort by recent usage. Earned and spent amounts show + and − prefixes. Pull down to refresh balances, rates, and prices.
- Does Monlio connect to my bank?
- No. Monlio does not support bank account import or open banking. You enter transactions yourself for full control and privacy.
