This Privacy Policy describes how Monlio("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use Monlio: Money & Wealth Tracker (the "App") and https://www.monlio.app(the "Website").
Summary
- Monlio is a manual finance tracker — we do not connect to your bank.
- Your finance data is stored locally on your device first, in an offline SQLite database.
- Sign-in is optional. You can skip sign-in and use the App with local data only.
- iCloud sync is optional and requires Monlio Pro (subscription or lifetime purchase) plus sign-in with Apple or Google.
- In-app purchases are processed by Apple. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
- We do not sell your personal data and do not use third-party advertising trackers.
Information we collect
Account information (optional)
If you choose to sign in with Apple or Google, we receive basic account identifiers provided by those services, such as:
- A user ID from the sign-in provider
- Your display name (if shared by the provider or entered by you)
- Your email address (if shared by the provider)
This information is used to authenticate you, associate your profile with your App data, and enable iCloud sync when you have Monlio Pro.
If you tap Skip for now on the sign-in screen, we do not receive account identifiers from Apple or Google. You can still use the App with local data.
You can sign out at any time. Signing out keeps your local finance data on the device and clears sign-in credentials from the App.
Profile information
You may optionally set:
- A display name
- An avatar (initials, a preset emoji, or a custom emoji you choose)
Profile details are stored locally. If you have Monlio Pro and enable iCloud sync, profile details may be synchronized across your Apple devices via CloudKit.
Finance data you enter
The App stores the financial information you choose to enter, including:
- Accounts (fiat, crypto, and stocks)
- Transactions (income, expense, transfer, and currency exchange)
- Categories and currencies
- App settings and preferences
This data is stored locally on your device. We do not automatically import data from banks or other financial institutions.
Purchase information
If you purchase Monlio Pro, payment is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive only the information needed to confirm your purchase entitlement (for example, that a Pro subscription is active or that the lifetime Pro product was purchased or restored for your Apple ID). We do not receive or store your payment card or billing details.
Monlio Pro is available as a monthly ($1.99) or yearly ($14.99) auto-renewable subscription, or as a $24.99 lifetime purchase. Payment for subscriptions is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. See our Terms of Service for full subscription details.
iCloud sync data (optional, Pro)
If you have Monlio Pro, are signed in, and enable iCloud sync in Settings, your finance data and profile details may be synchronized across your Apple devices using Apple CloudKit.
CloudKit data is stored in your iCloud account and is subject to Apple's privacy practices and your iCloud account settings.
We do not operate our own cloud servers for your finance data.
Device security data (local only)
If you enable App Lock, you may use Face ID, Touch ID, or a custom passcode. Biometric authentication is handled by iOS on your device. If you choose a passcode, a hashed version is stored locally in the device keychain. We do not receive your passcode or biometric data.
Device and usage information
Monlio does not include third-party analytics, crash reporting, or advertising SDKs. We do not collect crash logs or performance diagnostics through the App.
If you opt in to sharing diagnostics with Apple at the system level (Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements), Apple may collect crash and usage data from your device under its own policies. That data is not shared with us.
Website information
When you visit the Website, standard server logs may include your IP address, browser type, and pages visited. If you contact us at hello@monlio.app, we receive the information you provide in your message.
If you accept analytics cookies, the Website uses Google Analytics to measure visits. Those cookies are not set unless you choose Accept, and you can change that choice anytime with Cookie settings in the footer. Google's processing is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
The Website also uses Ahrefs Web Analytics to measure visits. Ahrefs does not use cookies. Ahrefs' processing is described in the Ahrefs Privacy Policy.
How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- Provide and operate the App and Website
- Authenticate users who choose to sign in
- Store and display the finance data you enter
- Enable optional iCloud sync for Monlio Pro users
- Verify Monlio Pro purchase and restore entitlements
- Respond to support requests
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not use your data for third-party advertising, our own advertising or marketing, or cross-app tracking. The App does not include analytics. Google Analytics on the Website runs only if you accept cookies. Ahrefs Web Analytics does not use cookies.
Third-party services
The App may retrieve public market data from third parties to show live exchange rates and asset prices. These requests generally include only currency codes, crypto identifiers, or stock ticker symbols — not your personal finance data.
Third-party data sources include:
- Frankfurter — fiat exchange rates (European Central Bank data)
- Exchange Rate API (open.er-api.com) — supplementary fiat exchange rates
- CoinGecko — cryptocurrency prices
- Yahoo Finance — stock prices
Authentication is handled by Apple Sign In and Google Sign In, which are governed by their respective privacy policies:
In-app purchases are processed by Apple via the App Store.
Optional iCloud sync uses Apple CloudKit.
Data storage and security
Finance data is stored locally on your device by default. You can enable App Lock with Face ID, Touch ID, or a passcode for an additional layer of protection on your device.
While we implement reasonable safeguards, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure.
Your choices
- Skip sign-in and use the App with local data only
- Sign in with Apple or Google when you want iCloud sync (requires Monlio Pro)
- Turn iCloud sync on or off in Settings (Pro users only)
- Sign out while keeping local data on your device
- Delete your account from the App, which removes local profile and finance data on that device
- Restore Monlio Pro on a new device using Restore Purchases with the same Apple ID
- Contact us at hello@monlio.app for data-related questions
About account deletion
Deleting your account removes all local finance data, settings, and profile information from that device.
Data previously synchronized to iCloud via CloudKit may remain in your iCloud account until you remove it through your Apple ID or iCloud settings. Monlio does not operate a separate account portal for remote data deletion at this time.
Data retention
- Local data remains on your device until you delete it, delete your account, or uninstall the App.
- iCloud data retention follows Apple CloudKit and iCloud policies.
- Purchase entitlements are managed by Apple and can be restored with your Apple ID.
- Support correspondence is retained only as long as needed to resolve your request.
Children's privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
International users
If you use the App from outside European Union, your information may be processed in countries where our service providers operate, including the United States and countries where Apple or Google process authentication and purchase data.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
